Don’t be put off by the street that this oasis is accessed from… it’s well worth a visit. Different menu every day for weekday lunch (try their pork); tasting menu in the evening and at the weekends. Heavy emphasis on seasonal and local produce. The chef is self-taught and cures her own meat according to methods learned from her charcutier father. Tables outside or in.
You’ll need to book.
Our view: very different atmosphere at weekday lunchtimes (busy, lively) compared with evenings / weekends (quieter, reverential). The tasting menu is a voyage of discovery – you’re told what you’re getting as it comes – and is possibly a little over the top (lots of small courses with very complex ingredients) but is nonetheless delicious.
